ABU DHABI // A housewife who allegedly killed her maid said her employee was like a sister to her.
Emirati S H is being tried at the Criminal Court on charges of murder and of hiring workers illegally.
Medical reports revealed that the maid died because of an internal hemorrhage in her brain caused by several fractures of her skull.
The forensic doctor who examined the body said the injuries were caused by several blows to the head, which could have happened some time before her actual death.
“The blows could have been delivered one or two weeks before she died,” he said.
S H denied the charges and said she had treated the maid “like a sister”. She claimed she had arrived home to find the maid dead.
She also also said she had acquired the Ethiopian maid from a recruitment office and agreed with the management to give her a month’s probation before sponsoring her.
The case was adjourned to March 13.
