RAS AL KHAIMAH // A five-year-old Emirati boy was killed after his mother drove over him at their home in Shamal on Friday.

The female driver was pulling away from her house when she ran over the child. She took the boy to Saqr Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Col Arif Al Kaz, director of Al Mamoura Police station, said: “We urge parents to watch the area around their vehicles before driving. Parents should make sure their children are safe inside the house or far away from the vehicles.”

He also urged parents to fit sensors to their vehicles to avoid such accidents.
