DUBAI // A mother and daughter who forced a married woman to work as a prostitute were jailed for two years each on Wednesday, along with a male accomplice.

The Pakistani victim, 23, was tricked into coming to the UAE to work at a beauty salon but was forced to work in the sex industry.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard last September that a man and woman visited her in Pakistan to recruit her.

“They spoke to me and my husband and said that I would be paid a lot of money if I join-ed them to work at a beauty salon in Dubai, so my husband agreed,” she said.

On March 31 last year, she joined the couple on a flight to Sharjah. Once there, a man picked them up and took them to his house. The next day, they went to a small flat in Dubai and was then taken to work at a hotel.

“The same couple met with a man who gave them money, then I was forced to go with him and have sex with him against my will,” she said.

“I cried and I told them I wanted to return home to my family but they locked me up and I was also beaten.”

The next day she had an argument with the other residents of the flat and the landlord told them all to leave.

She escaped while they were on their way to the first house in which she stayed and called police.

Pakistani R A, 45, her daughter K A, 22, and compatriots A S, 40, M Z, 45, and T A, 34, were charged with human trafficking.

K A, A S, M Z and T A denied running a prostitution ring.

The mother and daughter denied working as prostitutes, while A S, M Z and T A denied profiting from prostitution.

The mother, daughter and A S will be deported after serving their terms.

M Z and T A were acquitted.
