SHARJAH // The Sharjah International Book Fair has so far approved 815 publishing houses’ participation in the fair this autumn.
The fair will take place from November 4 to 14 at the Expo Centre in Sharjah.
The book fair organisation has evaluated hundreds of applications from local and regional Arab publishing houses over the past three months, it said. In the previous book fair, more than 1,200 publishers from 59 countries took part.
The UAE has the most participating publishing houses, followed by Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, according to the state news agency, Wam.
The annual fair launched in 1982 is overseen by the Sharjah Book Authority and is under the patronage of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah.
