Man who tried saving someone from drowning posthumously rewarded by Sheikh Saif

ABU DHABI // A man has been awarded posthumously for his courage in trying to save a person from drowning.

Qatari Saad Mubarak Abdulrahman was honoured by Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, with the Rescue Medal for trying to save someone off the Ras Al Khaimah Corniche.

The medal was presented to Saad’s brother Ibrahim in Doha on the sidelines of the UAE-Qatar Joint Committee on Security.

Lt Gen Saif Abdullah Al Shaafar, undersecretary of the Interior Ministry, presented the medal. He praised Saad’s courage and stressed that his chivalrous and noble act reflects the authenticity of Qataris and their dedication to helping those in need.

Maj Gen Saad bin Jassem Al Khulaifi, director general of public security in Qatar, was also present.
