DUBAI // A man convicted of the sexual assault of a female tourist at the Dubai Fountain must complete his three-month jail term, the Court of Appeal ruled on Sunday.

Jobless M E, from Jordan, was charged after he touched Dutch national E J, 48, on her behind with his body several times. M E was also charged with committing an indecent act in public after touching himself.

The woman testified she was in a crowd of people watching the fountain display on November 7 last year when she felt someone press their body against her.

“I felt him moving back and forth against my behind then … I noticed that he had [touched himself].” she said. “I hit him but he did not care and just walked away.”

E J called security and police who arrested M E after finding traces of his DNA on her clothes.

M E, 31, told the court during his original trial: “I don’t know what happened and I don’t know until today.”

He will be deported after completing his sentence.
