In efforts to curb a phenomenon that infringes telecommunications regulations in the UAE, the technical crimes section at the Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police arrested a Bangladeshi man who stole international calls and sold them at very low prices. The man operated from his residence in one of Sharjah’s industrial zones. The CID reports reveal that an Asian man was selling low-cost international calling cards from his home but did not have a Telecommunications Regulatory Authority licence.
A CID team was sent to evaluate the information, and obtained a warrant to search the man’s residence.
The accused admitted to the charges, revealing the methods used to implement his operations for financial gain. On the basis of his confession, he was arrested and transferred to Dubai’s Public Prosecution.
