DUBAI// A 33-year-old man trespassed into his neighbour’s villa and tried to rape her in her bedroom, Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Prosecutors said on September 4 this year, Emirati K K climbed over the villa’s the wall and sneaked inside via the back door. He was charged with attempted rape and trespassing but denied both charges in court.

According to records, 44-year-old Emirati S A woke up at 4am after feeling someone was in her bedroom with her.

“The room was poorly lit so I couldn’t see who was there, but he then sat on top of me and placed his hand on my mouth to stop me from screaming, then started talking to me in English,” said the victim.

She managed to slide out of bed but said K K pushed her to the ground at which point she said she started to talk with him to try to calm him down.

“I told him I was willing to give him what he wanted then asked him if he was married or had any children, but he gave vague answers,” said the woman whose son was sleeping next door.

K K allegedly pulled her back to the bed then started kissing and stripping her out of her clothes. S A said she was scared but when she felt K K was trying to rape her, she pushed and resisted him then pretended she needed the toilet.

“When I got out of the toilet, the light was reflected on his face and I was able to see it,” said the woman. She said she tried to convince him she was willing to have sex with him but on another occasion.

S A said K K was convinced when she asked him for his mobile number, after which he left the villa and she called police.

Emirati policeman S M said he documented K K’s confession after his arrest on the same day of the incident. “But later that day K K said he wanted to change his confessions,” said S M.

Policeman E S, 39, said K K told him he was having constant problems with his neighbour, S A, because she often reported him to the authorities for building unlicensed additions to his villa.

“He said he sent his wife to try and reason with S A but there was no use so he decided to do what he did in order to scare her,” testified E S.

K K’s lawyer requested the court grant him bail, but this was court.

The next hearing will be on January 6.
