DUBAI // A man added his photo to his brother’s passport before using it to rent a 4x4.

The 28-year-old Emirati denied forgery and use of forged documents when he appeared in Dubai Criminal Court.

He also denied additional charges of forging a rental contract and failing to pay Dh36,900 in fees.

The incident happened between November 26, 2014 and February 7 last year.

A 32-year-old Pakistani who works at the car rental firm said the defendant rented a Toyota Land Cruiser. He was reported to police because he failed to pay the rental charges.

Officers at Al Rashidiya police station summoned the man whose name was on the passport copy given to the rental firm.

When the man came to the station, he told police the passport was his but the photo was of his brother.

The defendant was later arrested. The next hearing will be in May.
