DUBAI // A waiter who crashed his car into a police vehicle while trying to flee from a drug bust has been sent to jail.

On December 8 last year, Bangladeshi K M, 37, was arrested after selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer, prosecutors said.

Police were tipped off that K M was selling drugs in International City.

An undercover officer met K M, who arrived in a car with two unidentified men, and paid him Dh300 for the drugs.

When they completed the deal, the officer identified himself and tried to arrest K M.

He denied the charges, telling the judge that the drugs were for his own use.

At Dubai Criminal Court K M was sentenced to four years in jail and was ordered to pay for the damage caused to the police car. The amount was not disclosed.
