Man jailed for car crash while driving under the influence of drugs in Dubai

The 26-year-old was sentenced to one year and had his licence suspended for a year after his release.

DUBAI // A 26-year-old has been jailed for a year after driving his car while high on drugs and crashing into two other cars.

The Gulf national was also fined Dh200 and had his driver’s licence suspended for one year from his release date, the Dubai Traffic Court ruled on Tuesday.

The incident happened last August on Al Rebat Street.

Traffic police who attended the accident suspected the man was on drugs and referred him to the criminal lab, where tests showed he was high at the time of the crash.

He was convicted of consuming drugs and driving under the influence of drugs, damaging property, driving with an expired licence and failing to present the licence upon the request of police officers.
