ABU DHABI // An Emirati man, accused of stabbing six others, argued he was the victim and suffered 14 stabs that prevented him from signing up for national service.
The defendant told the Appeals Court on Sunday that he was attacked and stabbed 14 times by the six men after a fight broke out late at night, and that he was the one who called the police for help.
He said that they stabbed him in the shoulder and back and as a consequence he failed his national service admission tests which found him “unqualified”.
After reporting the attack to the police, he fell unconscious from the stab wounds and woke up in the hospital to find police have placed shackles around his feet, and said they did not find the men he reported.
The case was adjourned until February 9 to appoint a defence lawyer.
