Man given life in jail by RAK court for killing maid

A man has been sentenced to life in jail by the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court for killing his maid.

Prosecutors told the court that the Emirati and his wife were accused of murdering the housemaid by striking her on the head with a hammer, beating and then hanging her and reporting her death as suicide to police.

A forensic report revealed the maid’s death was not a suicide as her employers claimed, and that she died because of the hammer blow. The report also said the victim was not dead when she was hanged by the man and wife to fake her suicide.

The man and his wife denied the charges and insisted the maid hanged herself. The wife was acquitted by the court, reported Al Ittihad the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
