ABU DHABI // A man has been fined Dh10,000 for attacking his wife by the Appeals Court.
The accused, who had tried to argue that he had the right to grab his wife “in a disciplinary gesture”, was originally sued for Dh40,000 by his wife.
He was ordered to pay a Dh3,000 fine by the Court of Misdemeanor, which was paid.
The man however denied causing the injuries his wife described, and argued that the medical reports did not show injuries consistent with the allegations.
The court however rejected this argument, and said the woman had indeed suffered multiple injuries at the hands of her husband.
He was ordered to pay Dh10,000 as compensation for the injuries his wife sustained.
