Man falls to his death while climbing mountain in Sharjah

A man has died after falling from a mountain in Sharjah.

The Asian man, in his 40s, was out with friends when he lost his footing and fell into a 15 metre-deep ditch in the Khor Fakkan area of the emirate.

One of the party alerted police who dispatched rescue teams to the scene, but the man was sadly found dead.

The incident took place at about 10.30pm on Tuesday.

Major Rashid bin Sandal, of Sharjah Police, called for climbers to take the necessary safety precautions to prevent further tragedy.
