A marketing manager at a food supply company was cleared of stealing Dh205,000 worth of cooking oil.
Dubai Criminal Court acquitted the 42-year-old man who, in court last July, denied a charge of unlawfully obtaining the goods.
Prosecutors said man began working for the company in 2013 but an audit in January last year revealed forged receipts dating back to March 2015.
“One of the clients that we supply with cooking oil told us that they did not receive the oil listed in three receipts issued under their name, they told us they made the order by never received the products,” said the company’s legal consultant.
The 35-year-old man said an internal investigation was carried out and the marketing manager was questioned.
“He admitted to diverting the destination of the oil, claiming that the client ordered the oil to be delivered to a third party so he directed the store employees to ship the oil to that third party,” he said.
The legal consultant said they discovered the products were delivered to a shop in Sharjah which the defendant was revealed to have a connection with.
The court cleared the man of the charge.
