DUBAI // A 37-year-old man is accused at Dubai Criminal Court of forging fitness club passes for his friends.

Prosecutors said the Russian forged three passes for a fitness club on The Palm Jumeirah and gave them to friends in June.

He is charged with forgery and use of forged documents, which he confessed to in court and presented a document proving that the fitness club dropped charges against him.

“I was on duty when two men and a woman arrived on June 17 this year to the private health club and beach of Jumeirah Palm residents. They handed me three passes and I headed to the management to make sure if they were members,” said a 40-year-old Filipino security guard.

He found that the passes were not registered in the system so he told his boss, who said to call police.

Cases were lodged against the three people but they told officers that they did not know about the forgery and said the defendant provided the passes.

The next hearing is on October 12.
