DUBAI // A man was arrested as he went into a nightclub after police were tipped off that he had been taking cocaine, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
In court the Briton, 37, admitted to charges of possessing and using cocaine. Police received information that he was taking drugs at a club in Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
“We obtained an arrest warrant on March 11 this year and apprehended him as he was going into the club,” a police lieutenant said.
He said the man had cocaine in his shirt pocket. His car was also searched but no drugs were found.
The defendant was taken to Al Barsha police station where tests showed traces of cocaine in his system.
A verdict is expected on May 31.
