DUBAI// An Indian sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a compatriot 19 times in the head and body with two different knives will serve out his jail term, the Dubai Court of Appeals has ruled.

On January 19, the 27-year-old waited until he was alone with the victim in their accommodation room in Al Qusais before stabbing him in the head with a kitchen knife.

The force of the attack broke the knife and fractured the victim’s skull. The killer then grabbed another knife and resumed stabbing his victim in the head, chest, back and abdomen before wrapping up his body in a blanket and placing it under a bed before fleeing with the two knives.

Police were contacted after the victim’s co-workers found his body.

“I took the boss’s permission to use my spare key and open the door for the man’s colleagues. I opened and we just froze, the amount of blood on the floor was unbelievable, then we spotted his body in a blanket under the bed,” said the labour accommodation’s security guard, 36, from Bangladesh.

Police arrested the Indian after his fingerprints were found on a fridge.

“He told us the man kept on threatening to kill him if he did not allow him to have sex,” said an Emirati lieutenant.

“Each stab wound was fatal. One fractured his skull and cut the brain tissue. In my entire professional life this is the first time I’ve see such an ugly stab, the killer was determined to end this man’s life,” a forensic expert told the court.

The Indian was found guilty of premeditated murder and jailed. He will be deported after serving 25 years.
