DUBAI // An unemployed man threatened to defame a married woman if she did not have sex with him, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.

Pakistani A A, 44, is charged with issuing threats and with abusing telecommunication means but he was not present in court to enter a plea.

Prosecutors said that on March 7 and prior to that date, the man had been calling 30-year-old B H, also Pakistani, and trying to blackmail her into having sex with him by threatening to spread damaging information about her.

“He told me that he will tell my husband that I had been in an affair with him and that we had sex before. He also said that he possesses a video clip that shows me having sex with a man inside a car,” said the woman.

When he first called her, she said he was speaking in a woman’s voice. “Then he changed his voice back to a man’s voice and started saying that I texted him my number and that he was my lover,” said the woman.

Her husband testified that he had questioned B H, who is his second wife, and she confirmed that she had never met the man.

“I took her and we went to a police station and reported him,” said the 44-year-old husband, S S.

Prosecutors said that the defendant confessed he had been harassing the woman and her husband.

A verdict is expected on December 17.
