An investigation is under way after a cyclist died in a road crash in Ras Al Khaimah.
The 59-year-old was attempting to cross a road without checking that his path was clear when he was struck by a vehicle, driven by a woman in her 30s.
Police and the ambulance service were called to Al Jazirah Al Hamra Road at about 8.55am on Monday, Arabic newspaper Emarat Al Youm reported.
Colonel Ahmed Al Naqbi, director of the traffic and patrols department at RAK Police, said the case has been passed on to public prosecutors for investigation.
“He [the cyclist] was seriously injured in the accident and died instantly,” said Col Al Naqbi.
The police chief called on road users to abide by traffic regulations and maintain concentration at all times.
