DUBAI // The interactive Monopoly board game with Dubai as its base has helped raise funds for Nepal’s earthquake survivors.

Visitors played the distinctive game at malls City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif and Mall of the Emirates to win prizes and help build houses in Nepal.

Majid Al Futtaim presented a cheque of Dh400,000 from funds raised from the game and its own donation to local charity Red Crescent, a statement said.

Points collected from 14 days of play were converted into dirhams for the donation. A digital meter in each mall tracked the amount raised.

Visitors could make donations in life-size wooden Monopoly houses in the malls.

The Monopoly initiative marked milestones such as the 20th anniversary of City Centre Deira, the 10th anniversary of Mall of the Emirates, the 5th anniversary of City Centre Mirdif and the 80th anniversary of the board game.
