RAS AL KHAIMAH // An Indonesian maid fell pregnant after having an illegal affair with a Bangladeshi driver, the RAK Criminal Court heard.
Prosecutors said on July 29 this year Emirati M A noticed her maid, U A, 37, would become nervous whenever she came to the kitchen to talk to her. She saw the maid’s belly was bulging under her clothes and suspected she was pregnant.
M A took the maid to a medical centre for an examination, which revealed the Indonesian was expecting a child. M A then reported the maid to police
U A told prosecutors that she was in a relationship with M L, whose age was not given in records. The driver would pick U A up from her sponsor’s house in the Kharran neighbourhood and take her to his residence in Al Fahlayn.
“Two years ago I got to know M L, and then an affair happened between us. He used to take me several times to his place,” said the maid.
U A told the court that M L was the father of her unborn child. She said the Bangladeshi gave her Dh500 the first time she went to his house.
M L denied being in a relationship with the maid.
The next hearing will be on September 16.
