DUBAI // A mall security guard has been jailed for three months for sexual assault.
The guard tried to get a female employee at Ibn Battuta Mall to use one of the male toilets and then touched her inappropriately, the court heard.
The victim, a 27-year-old saleswoman, said she went with a friend to the toilets at about 12 midnight on March 8.
“When we got there we discovered it was locked, so we walked towards a security guard to help us,” said the woman, who is from Myanmar.
She said the man, A S, 30, used a key to open the door but it did not work.
The guard then asked her to follow him to a toilet for men.
“I refused to use that toilet,” she said. The woman then was about to walk away when she felt his hand touching her from behind.
“He squeezed and I got mad and asked him to get away from me,” she said.
The Egyptian defendant denied charges of molestation and claimed at Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday that he was praying at the time.
He was sentenced to three months and will be deported after serving the jail term.
