Houston shooting: Two charged over murder of Emirati officer

Two men have been charged with capital murder over the killing in Houston, Texas of an Emirati military officer during a robbery, according to media reports.

Detone Lewayne Price was arrested at his home yesterday for the shooting of Salem Saif al Mazroui on Sunday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Police are still looking for a second man, Corey Trevon Perry.

Al Mazroui, in his mid-twenties, and his father had returned from prayers and left their car idling outside their apartment to unload groceries when the two killers forced their way in.

As the two Emiratis tried to flee, three shots were fired and Al Mazroui was killed.

Investigators found the men's fingerprints on the vehicle, which the robbers used to make their escape before abandoning it. Al Mazroui's father identified Mr Perry as the shooter.

Al Mazroui was in the US to support his wheelchair-bound father as he received treatment for cancer. The family is from Adhen, a village in the mountains of Ras al Khaimah.
