There are 120 psychiatrists working in government and private hospitals and in Health Authority Abu Dhabi hospitals, the head of psychiatry at the Emirates Medical Association said. Emirati psychiatrists make up 20 per cent of the total (25 out of 120).
Speaking on the sidelines of the Psychiatric Health Conference, Dr Adel Karrani said Rashid Hospital was offering a four-year internship and specialisation course in psychiatry to five or six doctors a year, reported Wam, the state news agency.
