Thousands of decorative lights will adorn the capital’s streets and neighborhoods to mark Ramadan this year.
The 2,750 lights will be made up of 26 different designs that will be installed on lamp posts and be propped up on verges and roundabouts across Abu Dhabi city. An additional 1,350 lights will be hung from trees.
The annual lights for Ramadan are always inspired by Islamic motifs and this year the Municipality has added new designs, such as lanterns hanging from trees.

Typical Ramadan expressions will also be illuminated across the city - including Ramadan Al Khair, Ramadan Kareem, Mubarak Ramadan, and the Month of Ramadan.
Abu Dhabi Municipality said decorating the city was part of its efforts to celebrate the holy month and to “provide a joyful environment that reflects the values of the holy month and its spiritual manifestations.”
To ensure the safety of pedestrians and the environment, the Municipality has used high-quality electric cables, circuit breakers, plastic insulators, synthetic humps and LED power-saving lights.
The lights will be turned on from Thursday, May 10, until the end of the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
