SHARJAH // A two-year-old boy is in critical condition at a hospital in Sharjah after his head was trapped in a car window.

The boy, from an Arab country, was leaning out of the vehicle window on Monday while sitting on his sister’s lap in the back seat. His mother was driving the vehicle, a spokesman from Al Qasimi Hospital said.

The child pressed the window button, raising the window and trapping his head, leaving him unconscious. He was taken to hospital at 10pm.

Sharjah Police are investigating the incident, the spokesman said.

Also on Monday, police were called to the hospital at 5pm to check an unattended bag left at the hospital.

“Police came and cordoned the area. People were not allowed to go in or outside the hospital before the police inspected the bag and deemed it safe,” the spokesman said.

The bag contained personal items that were forgotten by its owner.
