Six new clinics will be opened around the country to help people quit smoking.
One clinic was recently opened in Dibba with five more due to open in January next year - one in Sharjah city, Khorfakkan, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.
Dr Hussain Al Rand, assistant under-secretary for Health Centres and Clinics at the Ministry of Health, said each clinic will have a doctor specialised in smoking cessation.
Over the next few weeks, the Ministry expects to achieve its target to provide at least two clinics in each emirate as part of the UAE 2021 development plan.
A guide recently launched by the Ministry outlines modern standards and techniques to quit smoking. It will be distributed to all clinics and primary health care centres.
