ABU DHABI // More than 2,000 babies have been delivered at Danat Al Emarat since the first registered birth on October 28 last year.

Of the 2,025 babies, 1,387 were Emirati. Boys accounted for 1,052, while there were 973 girls.

In the past 13 months, 48 pairs of twins, two cases of triples, and one case of quadruplets have been delivered at the hospital.

On Wednesday, Danat Al Emarat celebrated the first birthday of the first 50 babies born at the hospital.

Gifts were distributed to the 27 boys and 23 girls who attended the event along with their families, the hospital management, obstetricians, paediatricians and nurses.

“We are truly thankful to Allah and to the team at Danat Al Emarat Hospital, who took care of my wife and my baby last year,” said one of the fathers.

“My boy is now growing day by day, and is being followed up at the paediatrics department in the hospital. They have one file for him, with all the information since he was born - from vaccinations to regular checkups and when he feels unwell .”

Vino Nallaya, hospital chief executive, said its obstetrics department manages a high volume of high-risk pregnancies and a number of multiple pregnancy cases.

“One hundred fifty of our total newborns were either premature or unwell, and needed to stay for a few days or weeks at the neonatal intensive care unit.”
