The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments have launched a campaign to help pilgrims performing Haj.

Pilgrims are required to register with the UAE Haj Mission to get a permit issued from authorities in Saudi Arabia before they start their journey. Those who do not register will not be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia.

Pilgrims have been advised to avoid crowds and not to use private cars during the rituals. They have to adhere to the laws and arrival dates set by the authorities in Saudi Arabia. Those who breach these instructions will be held accountable.

In case of emergency, pilgrims can contact the UAE Haj Mission, the consulate-general in Jeddah, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Health Authority Abu Dhabi has advised Haj pilgrims to take the necessary vaccines at least two weeks before travelling.

Vaccines for this year include meningococcal, seasonal influenza and pneumococcal.

Dr Omniyat Al Hajeri, director of the public health and research division at Haad, said, “The aim of the Haj vaccines is to protect individuals and their families from infectious diseases and reduce the risk of spreading these diseases in the community.”
