The focus of Dubai Health Authority’s smart clinic this week was the importance of oral hygiene. DHA uses its Twitter and Instagram accounts to disseminate information through its weekly smart clinic.
Dr Khalid Al-Gergawi, consultant prosthodontist at DHA said, “In 2014, the total registered visits across all DHA primary healthcare centers for dental services were 187,311 and 8107 prosthodontics treatment procedures were conducted. This year, from January until now, 111,494 visits have been recorded and 4879 prosthodontic procedures have been completed.”
Dr Gergawi said the main cause for these visits is cavities. Patients often delay visiting the dentist which worsens the problem, he said.
