The UAE recorded 1,096 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking its total to 106,229.

A further 1,311 patients were given the all-clear as the recovery tally rose to 97,284.

Officials confirmed two more patients died during the 24-hour reporting period as the death toll moved to 445.

The latest infections were identified after a further 133,935 tests were conducted.

It is the second highest number of tests carried out in a single day, falling just short of the record 136,430 tests completed on Saturday.

The UAE has completed almost 11 million tests since the outbreak began, with screening rates increasing in recent weeks.

There are 8,500 active Covid-19 cases across the Emirates.

Case numbers have been on the rise in the past two months, prompting authorities to call on members of the public to renew their commitment to precautionary measures.

Daily infection figures fell to 164 on August 3 but by September 12 had hit a record 1,007.

Daily infections fell below 1,000 only once in October, when 932 cases were reported on October 5.

The UAE announced its highest daily caseload of 1,231 on October 3.

The average number of daily infections during the past seven days is 1,061.

The average number of recoveries, however, is encouraging, with an average daily tally of 1,308 over the same period.

As of Sunday, more than 37.5 million coronavirus cases have been detected across the globe.

The death toll stands at more than 1.078 million, while more than 28 million people have recovered.
