Coronavirus: Dubai Miracle Garden and Butterfly Garden close temporarily

Both parks have been closed until the end of March

Dubai Miracle Garden will return for its ninth season from Sunday, November 1.

This year, the attraction will feature more than 150 million flowers, including some that were locally grown for the first time.

A 400-meter walking track at the park will be used for daily entertainment shows.

The garden will open daily from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and from 9am to 11pm on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays.

Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Butterfly Garden have been closed temporarily until the end of the month.

"This is in light of Covid-19 that is affecting the nation and has been implemented as a measure to protect visitors and workers,” said Abdel Naser Rahhal, vice chairman of Cityland Group, the developer of the two gardens.

"Within the framework of the precautionary and preventive measures against the new coronavirus emerging in Dubai, and in our attention to the health and safety of visitors and employees, Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Butterfly Garden announce their temporary closure until 31st March 2020. We wish everyone health and wellness,” he said.

Dubai has also closed all bars, pubs and lounges until the end of March to restrict further cases of Covid-19.

"In line with Dubai Government Precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of its residents and visitors; Dubai Tourism notifies all bars, pub and lounges (including bars within restaurants) to close with immediate effect from today (Monday, March 16, 2020) [until] the end of March,” read a notice issued by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing to hotels in the emirate on Monday, March 16.

The UAE authorities have urged people not to plan weddings in hotels and cancel parties at homes to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management said the new ruling will be applicable for the next four weeks.
