An Abu Dhabi healthcare company has set aside Dh1 million worth of free IVF treatments as part of its Year if Giving contribution.
United Eastern Medical Services, or UEMedical, said it would offer the free treatment at its HealthPlus Fertility Centre to couples with limited income who suffer from infertility.
Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, the CEO and MD of UEMedical in Abu Dhabi, said: “At UEMedical, we have always been keen to support and give back to the community and have adapted several initiatives under our corporate social responsibility strategy since the group was established, and this year we have decided to double our efforts in line with the Year of Giving.
“This Dh1m IVF campaign will run until the end of the year. Our counsellors will immediately start receiving applications in person at our HealthPlus Fertility Centre.
“A committee has been formed to review each case based on multiple socio-economic factors as well as the couple’s medical condition. To qualify, the couple should have no children, and have limited income.”

Majd Abu Zant, CEO of HealthPlus Network of Specialty Centres, which is part of UEMedical, said they had a 50 per cent success rate.
“This places us among the top-performing fertility units when compared to countries like the UK, US and Australia,” he said.
“The centre provides different treatment options for couples suffering from delayed pregnancy, infertility problems and cases of repeated miscarriages, in addition to men and women who need to preserve their fertility before undergoing chemotherapy.
“The centre is among the largest in the Middle East and performed more than 2,700 infertility treatments last year. This number is expected to increase significantly this year, in light of the increasing demand for our services.”
