Dubai will host the world’s first 24-hour tennis marathon next month.
Teams representing UAE companies and made up of local and international players will compete against each other in the event to be held on November 13 and 14.
Supported by Dubai Sports Council the event, which organisers hope will be held annually, aims to encourage more people to take up the sport.
“Dubai has already made its mark as an important destination in the annual ATP and WTA calendar with the annual ATP and WTA event in Dubai attracting most of the top 10 ranked players, both men and women,” said Strath Sherriff, Managing Director of organisers Sherriff International Sports Management.
“Our attempt at the 24 hour marathon would further elevate Dubai and UAE’s position as the tennis hub in the region.”
The event will also attempt to break the Guinness World Record for having more than 72 players playing in an exhibition event.
Players are invited to register at www.24hourtennismarathon.com.
