UAE reports 1,089 Covid-19 cases on record day of testing

The UAE recorded 1,089 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, the biggest day of testing to date.

The latest infections were detected as a result of 327,616 PCR tests, exceeding the previous daily high of more than 321,000 set on Saturday.

More than 70.6 million tests have been carried out nationwide as part of the country's mass screening strategy.

Another 1,605 people beat the virus as recoveries exceeded new cases for the tenth day in a row.

Three people died during the latest 24-hour reporting period, raising the death toll to 2,009.

The UAE has now reported 705,089 infections since the outbreak began, with 684,414 recoveries.
