ABU DHABI // The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, or Awqaf, has entered the Guinness World Records for the largest collection box in the world. The collection box is a scaled up version of the actual ones used to collect donations.

Awqaf signed an agreement with Guinness World Records to verify the specifications of the collection box and ensure that it is the largest in the world, and received a certificate and membership number.

The collection box was inaugurated on Saturday during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan at the Town Square of Yas Mall, in coordination with Aldar Properties.

It takes up 156 square metres of the mall and consists of six adjacent shops, in addition to a seventh shop one facing the main collection box, which is used as an information office to introduce visitors to Awqaf and receive donations.
