SHARJAH // Shopkeepers have been warned not to fall victim to fake inspectors who have been operating in the emirate.

Omar Al Sharji, assistant director general for customer service at Sharjah Municipality, said there had been a number of incidents in which conmen had pretended to be inspectors, then confiscated goods from the shops.

Mr Al Sharji encouraged the public and shop owners to inform their staff of the laws and regulations, to check the identification of any person purporting to be an inspector, and to take note of their names and the entity they represent.

All official inspectors wear Sharjah Municipality uniforms and carry IDs, Mr Al Sharji told Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National.
