ABU DHABI // A fire engulfed four warehouses in Al Mafraq’s industrial area in Abu Dhabi on Thursday evening.
No injuries were reported as Civil Defence were deployed swiftly to tackle the blaze.
Colonel Abdullah Rashid Al Zaabi, head of strategy and performance department at the General Directorate of Civil Defence said investigators are currently trying to determine the cause of the fire. He said “initial investigations show that this wasn’t an average fire”.
Police received the emergency call at 5.35pm. Five brigades were dispatched from Al Wathba, Bani Yas West, Musaffah 14, Musaffah, 33 and Al Falah.
The rapid deployment unit from Mohammed Bin Zayed City were also at the scene and drone support was used help firefighters tackle the blaze.
Colonel Al Zaabi stressed the importance of the adherence to fire safety guidelines. They should be strictly followed in all structures, industrial and commercial, he said.
