UAE leaders congratulate Sultan of Oman on Renaissance Day

Renaissance Day celebrates the anniversary of the accession of Sultan Qaboos on July 23, 1970

President Sheikh Khalifa led congratulatory messages to Sultan Qaboos of Oman on Sunday ahead of his country's Renaissance Day.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, sent similar messages to Sultan Qaboos, congratulating him on the 48th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

"I congratulate by brother, Sultan Qaboos, on the anniversary of the blessed renaissance," tweeted Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

"I congratulate by brothers, the people of Oman, on this historic journey with a great leader whom all Arabs know for his wisdom. He leads Oman with an exceptional vision that is worthy of the world's respect," he said.

Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman and Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain also sent cables.

According to state news agency, Wam, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed, the President's Representative, wished Sultan Qaboos and the people of Oman good health and prosperity, praising the brotherly relations between the UAE and Oman.

Renaissance Day is celebrated as a public holiday for both government and private sector workers.

Ahead of the holiday, Sultan Qaboos issued a royal pardon to 274 prisoners, according to a tweet from the Royal Oman Police.
