The UAE Embassy in Washington is continuing to follow the investigation into the death of an Emirati student in Ohio last December.
Saif Al Ameri was shot by a police officer in Hudson, Ohio. The embassy said on Saturday that the Ohio Attorney General's Office confirmed that Saif, 26, was unarmed at the time he was shot.
“Representatives of the UAE Embassy remain in close contact with investigators at the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and continue to emphasise the importance of a thorough, transparent and timely investigation into this tragic event,” the embassy said, as quoted by the state news agency, Wam.
Saif was a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University, studying law.
“Embassy representatives remain in close contact with Al Ameri’s family, and our thoughts and prayers remain with them,” the embassy said.
“We will support the family in any way possible and we will continue to monitor the proceedings going forward.”
