ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi’s media zone authority, twofour54, has launched a training programme for Bahrainis.
The programme, which is being run in partnership with the Bahraini development initiative, Tamkeen, teaches graphic design and public-relations courses ranging from six weeks to six months in duration and is already well subscribed.
“Our partnership with Tamkeen is part of twofour54’s mission to drive the development of the creative industries in the region, supporting talent and content-development initiatives, creativity and young entrepreneurs,” said Maryam Al Mheiri, chief operating officer at twofour54.
“We are glad that our partnership with Tamkeen allows twofour54 to play a key role in providing young Bahrainis with the training they need to achieve success in the media industry. Upon completion of the course, the delegates will have gained valuable knowledge and skills that they require to succeed in their industries,” she said.
Tamkeen’s acting vice president for human capital development, Amal Al Kooheji, said: “Courses such as these will be pivotal in developing Bahrain’s media talents in line with labour-market needs.
“The courses ultimately support the sustainable growth of the country’s media sector and national economy at large.”

Farage on Muslim Brotherhood
Nigel Farage told Reform's annual conference that the party will proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood if he becomes Prime Minister.
"We will stop dangerous organisations with links to terrorism operating in our country," he said. "Quite why we've been so gutless about this – both Labour and Conservative – I don't know.
“All across the Middle East, countries have banned and proscribed the Muslim Brotherhood as a dangerous organisation. We will do the very same.”
It is 10 years since a ground-breaking report into the Muslim Brotherhood by Sir John Jenkins.
Among the former diplomat's findings was an assessment that “the use of extreme violence in the pursuit of the perfect Islamic society” has “never been institutionally disowned” by the movement.
The prime minister at the time, David Cameron, who commissioned the report, said membership or association with the Muslim Brotherhood was a "possible indicator of extremism" but it would not be banned.
