Influential Emiratis have made their presence known in this year’s Forbes Middle East 200 Most Powerful Arab Women list, with one coming out on top.
Raja Easa Al Gurg, managing director of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, which owns and operates a number of businesses, was number one on the list. Twenty-six women from the country were chosen.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the founder and chief executive of Kalimat Group, was one of the many women honoured, receiving her accolade in recognition of her role in managing the publishing house – the first in the UAE dedicated solely to publishing and distributing Arabic children’s books and Arabic educational content.
“This event reflects the major role being played by Arab women in various sectors,” said Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, the daughter of the Ruler of Sharjah.
Rasha Al Dhanhani, known to many as the mastermind behind PappaRoti Cafe, also made the list, which recognises women working for their family business, in government and as executive managers.
“That I am recognised as influential in the Arab world in a very positive way is truly an honour,” said Ms Dhanhani.
