ABU DHABI // The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation said its projects in Afghanistan, including an orphanage in Kandahar, will continue despite a terrorist attack that killed five Emirati humanitarian aid workers.

The foundation has been carrying out a number of projects in Afghanistan, including the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Orphanage which the five Emiratis were preparing.

“We are continuing on the same rhythm. Neither the vocational education (project) nor the orphanage will stop, there is no hold whatsoever, “ said Mohammed Al Khouri, director general of the foundation, on Friday.

Other projects include the nutritive sufficiency preventive project that benefits 15 million people, and Ramadan humanitarian programmes carried out every year for fasting Muslims across 18 provinces.

In an earlier initiative, a total of 2,000 poor families in the Nimroz desert province received aid materials.

There are many other relief and development programmes by organisations in the UAE, as it tops the list of countries providing support to the country.
