Supreme Council for Motherhood and Children celebrates 15th year

Council congratulates women and children on special day

Tomorrow marks the fifteenth anniversary of the UAE's Supreme Council for Motherhood and Children.

Established on July 30th, 2003 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Council has strived to support the well-being of mothers and their families throughout the country.

Key programmes have included initiatives to provide adequate healthcare to children as well as promoting awareness of human rights.

The Council also introduced Emirati Children's Day - celebrated every year on March 15 - in an effort to encourage government and private sector institutions to work together to build a safe and stable environment for future generations.

Sheikh Fatima bint Mubarak, president of the council, congratulated women and children on their anniversary, urging them to seize the opportunities they had been given.

She said: "The UAE's high global standing, especially in human rights, women's empowerment, and child rights, is evidence of the leadership's continued efforts to ensure women's and children's rights are met."
