Sheikh Mohammed to honour UAE pioneers in Year of Tolerance

Sheikh Mohammed invites residents to submit nominations for UAE Pioneers Award before applications close on November 22

Residents across the country have been invited to nominate individuals and organisations that promote the spirit of tolerance for the upcoming UAE Pioneers Award.

Writing on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said this year’s annual award ceremony will single out “role models of tolerance” who spread values of “peace and coexistence in our country”.

The UAE Pioneers Award honours individuals, initiatives and projects for their outstanding contribution to the country. Now in its sixth edition, this year’s award coincides with the Year of Tolerance, which was announced by President Sheikh Khalifa at the beginning of 2019.

“We invite our citizens and residents to nominate people, projects and initiatives that promote tolerance, using the #UAE_Pioneers and website http://uaepioneers.gov.ae,” the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai said in a tweet.

“Our team will select a number of individuals and projects to honour for their work and impact [on society].”

Nominations can be submitted through the uaepioneers.gov.ae website until November 22. The honouring ceremony will be held as part of the UAE Government's Annual Meeting that coincides with the UAE National Day celebrations.

The UAE Pioneers Award was first launched in 2014 after Sheikh Mohammed spearheaded a hashtag campaign on social media prompting UAE residents to support and highlight social work in the country.

In 2018, a total of 30 awards were handed out. The winners included Louvre Abu Dhabi, Emirates Airlines, the UAE military and Dubai Airports.
