ABU DHABI // Strengthening relations between the UAE and Qatar was at the top of the agenda for Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who on Monday met Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, Qatar’s emir.

The pair discussed ways to strengthen relations between the countries and the latest regional developments.

“This visit reflects the depth of brotherly links between the two countries,” said Sheikh Mohammed, also Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. “Relations among the GCC states are strong, interdependent and serve the countries’ strategic objectives.

“The UAE is working for closer solidarity and cooperation among GCC citizens in the face of all challenges and threats that affect the security and stability of the region.”

Sheikh Tamim said he wished the UAE further progress and development under the leadership of the President, Sheikh Khalifa. The men highlighted the need to strengthen the solidarity and unity of Arabs in light of the challenges facing the region, while supporting political and security efforts to maintain the safety and stability of Arab countries.
