WARSAW // Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has started a two-day visit to Poland accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Sheikh Mohammed was greeted on arrival at the presidential palace in Warsaw by Bronislaw Komorowski, the Polish president, as well as ministers and other officials. The leaders discussed relations between their countries and ways of expanding cooperation in higher education, agriculture, tourism and investment, reported Wam, the state news agency.
Sheikh Mohammed also visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw, and laid a wreath on the tomb after a band played the national anthems of the UAE and Poland. On the monument’s register, he wrote, “Behind every great act are great unsung heroes who deserve to be honoured for lighting the path for future generations and for their sacrifices made for the sake of their country.”
Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Komorowski also witnessed the signing of agreements on small and medium businesses, agriculture and food safety, higher education and tourism cooperation. They described these as a prelude to a new phase of bilateral relations.
The UAE delegation accompanying Sheikh Mohammed included Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and of Emirates Group, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sultan Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Asem Al Rahma, UAE Ambassador to Poland, and other officials.
