Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid receives message from Indian prime minister

Narendra Modi thanks Sheikh Mohammed and the UAE for protecting the Indian community during the Covid-19 outbreak

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, received a message from Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on Sunday.

In his message, Mr Modi thanked Sheikh Mohammed and the UAE Government for their work to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

He thanked the government for protecting the Indian community and offering its members treatment services. Mr Modi said this contributed to a significant decrease in infections among Indian citizens and other communities.

Sheikh Mohammed received the message in a meeting with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Indian Minister of External Affairs, who is visiting the UAE.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Jaishankar exchanged views on how to restore and stimulate the economies of the two countries and increase trade.

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE was keen to contain Covid-19 and limit its negative effects on all sectors, most notably tourism, trade, commerce and health.

Mr Jaishankar commended the measures adopted by the UAE to combat the pandemic and support other countries with medical aid.
